Has Jose Mourinho done anything at Inter Milan?

Jose Mourinho took the job at Inter Milan, with the simple task, win the Champions League. A year on and where is his team at? They are getting old, and with targets like Carvalho and Deco, they are set to get older, something tells me he would have preferred Terry and Lampard, but money and allegiance are obvious issues here.

It is not to say that old teams canít achieve trophies at the highest level, AC Milan have done it. But whereas AC Milan have a history of older teams, this is a relatively new concept for Inter Milan. The other Inter Milan target, Elano, is a shining example of how much Inter can hope to achieve, or rather can hope not to achieve.

If Inter wish to conquer Europe by approach, then taking on players like Deco and Carvalho will only add to a winning mentality, but will add little to their style of play, they already have roaming centre backs and quality passing with Stankovic.

I would suggest a more selective transfer policy, where pace is the objective. Mourinho has a vast knowledge of football at various levels, it is time he delved in and took a few risks on younger, faster players.

The Champions League is of course a knockout competition, and luck can play a role as Barcelona found out in the semi finals. The biggest problem with this Inter side is its inability to defend, so maybe Mourinho’s best bet would be to build a solid defence and move on from there.

Then again, who am I to be giving advice to the man who is undefeated in his last 117 home league games?
