49 year old Carlo Ancelotti has singed a three year deal with the Blues, bringing to an end an 8 year spell with AC Milan where he won two Champions League titles, the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia and the FIFA World Club Cup.
Many Chelsea fans are expecting something akin to an overhaul at the club where many of their players are on the wrong side of 30. Ancelotti certainly has the pulling power to bring in the world’s finest players but Roman Abramovich is no longer keen to spend the money he first injected into the club in 2003.
Chelsea FC is perfect for the former Rossoneri manger who has kept older players at the top of their game for many years. The likes of Seedorf, Inzaghi, Maldini, Costacurta, Nesta, Dida, Ambrosini and others are testament to this.
Roman Abromovich will then be hoping Carlo Ancelotti can preserve the current Chelsea crop for a few more years and change their status as the nearly men of the Champions League.
